Our Inn is set on Lake Opechee, a 427 acre lake in the center between the regions two largest lakes, Lake Winnipesaukee and Lake Winnisquam. Early native Americans called Lake Winnipesaukee "The Smile of the Great Spirit." The name still seems appropriate today.

Recreational activities abound; boating, swimming, cruises, ice skating, ice fishing and snowmobiling along with some truly spectacular scenery make this a four season vacation destination.

Winnipesaukee is surrounded by three mountain ranges; Ossipee, Belknap and Squam. It has a view of Sandwich Ridge and the Presidential Range including the famous Mount Washington.

Explore the area's numerous villages. Each one offers something different. Laconia, city on the lakes, offers public beaches, downtown shops and Meadowbrook Musical Arts Center. Weirs Beach has boardwalks, arcades, waterslides, restaurants and an activity center; Meredith is a restored mill village where you can browse through antiques, art and craft galleries; and Wolfeboro is a picture perfect New England village, right down to its historic Main Street. Center Harbor, Melvin Village, Alton Bay and the other towns in the Lakes Region all have their own special flavor, as well.

Come by car, boat or seaplane. All communities have public parks and docks and many feature activities such as fireworks displays and band concerts throughout the year. All offer a variety to exceptional dining and shopping.

M/S Mount Washington

Cruise Lake Winnipesaukee aboard the historic M/S Mount Washington, the most beautiful scenic cruise in New England. In the summer evenings the ship turns into a floating nightclub offering buffet dinner and dancing to live music. Dinner Dance and Theme cruises are also offered on week-ends during the spring and fall season.

Meadowbrook Musical Arts Center

Meadowbrook is the Lake’s Region’s premier concert venue hosting numerous major concerts throughout the four seasons. New Hampshire Music Festival New Hampshire Music Festival brings high quality music to the Lakes Region year round. Their Classics Series presents emerging world-class soloists and ensembles with the beloved NHMF orchestra performing repertoire from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern eras. They also continue to bring the Big Band Series as well as their Pops Series.

The Winnipesaukee Playhouse is a nonprofit organization that serves to develop and stage professional and community based theatrical productions. Whether your interest is to be onstage, behind-the-scenes or in the audience, the “Winni” Playhouse has something for everyone.

Gunstock Ski Resort

The Lakes Region’s four season playground! Enjoy skiing and riding on over 50 trails, snow tubing on the longest tubing run in New Hampshire, as well as, cross country skiing and snowshoeing on 50km of groomed terrain. During the warmer months Gunstock offers beautiful guided horseback rides around scenic Cobble Mountain. NHIS is an official international race track featuring the Loudon Classic, Nextel Cup, NASCAR and many other racing venues.

Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad

Come aboard the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad and enjoy a nostalgic rail excursion along the shores of the lake. The train travels 7 miles along the shoreline and is always within view of the lake. Once part of the Boston and Maine RR they brought tourists to the Lakes Region for summer vacations from the late 1890’s through the 1950’s. You can also enjoy their scenic Lakeside Dinner Train for evening entertainment.

Laconia Country Club

Laconia Country Club is perched between Lake Opechee and Lake Winnipesaukee’s Paugus Bay. The course offers the perfect combination of Lakes Region beauty and grace just a short drive down the street from the Inn. Comprehensive renovations of the course have resulted in an impeccably maintained championship course that was voted as one of the “Top 100 Must Play Courses of New England” by Golfstyles magazine for 2005 and 2006.

The Lodge at Belmont
